3DSensors and EpsilonSensors for investigating pile-supported, steel mesh-reinforced embankments
It’s always a pleasure to be part of innovative research! We’re excited to share the latest publication (in German), co-authored with Karolina Makowska, which describes a large-scale experimental setup for investigating pile-supported embankments reinforced with steel mesh.
Our 3DSensors offered unparalleled insights into the deformations of the reinforcement and soil, capturing detailed displacements (shape changes). Additionally, distributed strain measurements using EpsilonSensors revealed stress concentrations at support points, enabling us to draw conclusions about steel plastification under maximum load.
Congratulations once again to the entire international research team from Technische Universität Darmstadt, KELLER, Deltares and SHM System!
