The world’s first distributed temperature, elongation (strain) and shape (displacement) sensor
We are pleased to announce that our company has received funding – the SMART of the European Funds for a Modern Economy program for 2021-2027.
The consortium led by SHM System / Nerve-Sensors, in collaboration with Cracow University of Technology (Faculty of Civil Engineering) and the Optical Fiber Technology Lab at Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie, is launching a groundbreaking research project worth nearly €7 million.
The project aims to develop the world’s first Distributed Temperature, Elongation (Strain), and Shape (Displacement) sensor.
This cutting-edge innovation will distinguish between thermal and mechanical effects over any length, making it ideal for environments with non-uniform temperature changes and intense mechanical loads.
Key Applications:
- Continuous welded rail diagnostics
- Steel bridge beams
- Concrete girders
- Road pavements
- many more SHM applications
An interdisciplinary team of experts will address mechanical, material, and photonic challenges, creating a product fully compliant with railway standards.
Stay tuned for updates as we progress on this exciting project!
