Cracks Detection During Early-Age Concrete Hydration Using Distributed Fibre Optic Sensing: From Laboratory to Field Applications
The article summarises the recent examples of DFOS as a non-destructive approach to crack detection, especially during the hydration of early-age concrete. By using appropriate tools (monolithic and composite sensors with reduced axial stiffness), specific interrogator parameters, installation procedures and post-processing algorithms, it was possible to detect all (micro) cracks and estimate their widths.
