Earth dam – distributed acoustic and temperature sensing for thermal leak detection
Our last implementation. The earth dam, built in the early 1970s to support the operation of the power station, was fitted in 2023 with more than 1,300 m of EpsilonSensors embedded in 5 sections.
The system is designed for long-term active thermal leak detection (while heating the sensing path with parallel electrical cables) using Raman instrumentation (DTS), as well as short-term vibration testing using Rayleigh-based distributed acoustic sensing (DAS).
