Our last research was part of the H2020 funded GEOLAB, Science for enhancing Europe’s Critical Infrastructure. The PEBSTER project focused on load transfer in piled embankments with a steel reinforcement. In the first stage, the 1.1 x 1.1 m lab test was investigated using DFOS strain fibres, EpsilonSensors and 3DSensors grids. The analysis based on thousands of sensing points allowed a detailed assessment of the spatial deformation of the embankment (both strains and displacements), which is determined by the presence of the stiffer columns.
