Thermal compensation – one of the key aspects in long-term DFOS-based monitoring

Thermal compensation is one of the key aspects in long-term DFOS-based monitoring. To do it well, we need to know:

  • temperature (change) profile over the entire sensing length
  • thermal response of the DFOS sensors
  • how to interpret compensated data for correct structural assessment

All the above aspects have been discussed by our team in the latest publication, which shows not only laboratory research, but also results from two real projects: hybrid bridge deck and steel underground pipeline.

Monolithic and composite Nerve-Sensors were deployed in both of these projects.
